  • Food Policy: Avoid eating at the board, especially hot food

Game Rules & Procedures

  • Touch-Move Rule: If you touch a piece, you must move it (if legal)
  • Opponent's Pieces: If touched, you must capture if possible
  • Castling Protocol: Move king first to avoid rook-move enforcement
  • Draw Offers: Offer on your own time after making your move

  • Illegal Moves: Result in immediate loss (includes moving to eighth rank or capturing king)

Time Controls & Notation

  • Rapid Tournaments (25-30 minutes): Notation optional but permitted
  • Standard Games with Increment: Notation required throughout
  • Scoresheets: Use provided sheets rather than personal scorebooks
  • Game Completion: Reset pieces and clock after finishing
